Teddy Bear Workshop logo | final version | stacked
Season 5, Episode 1 of What We Do in the Shadows was set almost entirely at a mall, which required a large number of graphics, including original branding for a number of stores. The logo and overall look and feel for this set became the first thing I ever designed for this show. The brief for called for designs that were playful and bold in a similar way to Build-A-Bear —though visually unique— and with a colour palette that matched the shooting location.
When designing a logo, I often prefer to start with a pencil and a pad of paper, rather than jumping directly to my computer. I find this process makes it easier to cycle through a lot of ideas quickly and establish what will and won't work.
Once a mascot sketch and overall logo layout were approved, I could move forward with designing more fully rendered options to choose from.

Once the logo design was approved, I could move on to all additional graphics needed to dress the set more fully.
These included price tags, paw print floor decals to indicate direction of travel, posters, a price menu, and -perhaps the most fun of all- a seamless and overlapping pattern of the teddy bear mascot, printed on vinyl to cover an exisitng pillar on location. They just look so delightfully silly, all piled up on top of each other!
