digital rendering of final cemetery sign design
For this cemetery set we had to design plaques for various monuments and statues, design the faces of a number of stunt headstones, and an entrance sign. Below you can see my visual inspiration for the entrance sign, as well as the phenomenal job the Scenic team did taking the final product from plain MDF to a rusted iron finish.

The majority of the structures in the cemetery set were rented headstones, monuments and statues, and some required added ornamentation. I needed to design plaques for two twin gargoyle statues, and I found the Latin expression "Mors Certa, Hora Incerta" which means "Death is certain, its hour uncertain" and decided to split it between the two plaques.

There was also a pillar monument that required a carved relief inscription.

Lastly, I designed the engraved faces for a set of headstones being built specifically for the stunt team to vault over during the choreographed fight scene.
